WHAT IS SPECIALTY COFFEE?
Specialty coffee is a term used to describe coffee that has been rated and classified as having exceptional quality and distinct flavor characteristics. Specialty coffee is typically sourced from specific regions, estates, or farms that have unique growing conditions and produce exceptional beans.

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE IF A COFFEE IS CONSIDERED "SPECIALTY"?
To be considered specialty coffee, the beans must be grown and harvested under strict standards, including proper soil and altitude, careful attention to harvesting and processing, and quality control at every step of the production process. Additionally, specialty coffee must be rated by trained and certified coffee tasters, known as Q Graders, who evaluate the beans for their flavor, aroma, body, acidity, and overall quality.

WHAT IS THE SPECIALTY COFFEE ASSOCIATION?
The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) has established a set of standards and guidelines for specialty coffee, which include a score of at least 80 points on a 100-point scale. Coffees that score 80 points or higher are considered specialty coffee and are often sold at a premium price due to their exceptional quality.
